Welcome to VicFolk, the Victoria University Folk Music Club.
We play and sing mostly traditional Irish and Scottish music. If you’re interested in playing or singing trad music, dancing or listening, get in touch, or keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates on events. We welcome folk musicians who’d like a platform for putting on their own events. We also take bookings.
Our next events are:
— Clubs Day stall, 17 & 18 July at the Kelburn campus Hub. Come and meet the club and ask about how to get involved!
— Practices and workshops throughout Trimester 2. We’ll be starting again on 19 July with a Ceilidh Dancing and Calling Workshop. This will be in a different venue from usual, in room AM104 in the Alan McDiarmid building. (Square 13h on this map.)
— Practice on Thursday 26 July will be replaced by the Acoustic Routes Showcase. Regular meetings start on 2 August. Click here for directions to the usual practice room.
— Acoustic Routes showcase, 26 July in Roseneath. Come and hear VicFolk in action! Details at http://acousticroutes.org.nz/
— The next CEILIDH! 4 August at Thistle Hall from 7pm. Tickets available here.
Here’s Vic Folk playing at International Dance Day at Te Papa in 2018. Thanks to Don Laing for the video! (More under ‘About VicFolk’).
